'DAVID CASTLE joined in the general northward migration of Connecticut
settlers that followed the close of the French and Indian War, into what
subsequently became the State of Vermont. (This story and the economic
ups-and-downs of Vermont are admirably told in Dorothy Canfield
Fisher's book, Vermont Tradition). David is heard of successively in
Pawlet, VT. (about 1770), then Colchester, Vt. (1782), and finally
Jericho, Vt. (Colchester is on the Lake Champlain plain just north of
Berlington, and Jericho, Essex, and Underhill are in the foothills between
Mt. Mansfield and Burlington).'
