'HARRY FASSETT rode on horseback from Cambridge, Vt. (a few miles
north-west of Mt. Mansfield), to Johnstown, Ohio, in about 1880. He long
practised medicine in Johnstown, and there married Clarissa Peck,
daughter of a widow by that name who had immigrated from Nova Scotia.
The sixth of the ten children of this couple was Sarah Fassett, who
became the wife of her schoolteacher, William Augustus Castle; she was
my paternal grandmother. She was a small, long-faced, somewhat
sad-eyed, quiet woman with a tremendous head of hair. She often stayed
with us in Belmont, and with my Uncle Edward and Aunt Mary at their
chicken farm in E. Bridgewater, Mass.'

Ernest lived in Waltham. When he was married, he bought a house in
Connecticut and moved there. His license plate was his initials, which
was unusual at the time. All of his family (Unca, his wife, and their
children) were 'jolly people.' "Unca was a riot," Esther recalled.
