'JOHN FASSETT certainly lived somewhere in New England, but only his
date of birth is known. (But the name Fassett is prominent in the early
history of Bennington, Vt.). John's son Elias is consistently referred to
in the family annals as Gen. Elias Fassett; his military service can only
have been in the War of 1812, and he is presumed to have lived
somewhere in Vermont.'
